I knew an elderly brother who wanted to kill himself because of not being able to do as much in the ministry as before. What kind of organization would cause someone to feel that worthless?

my grammy had a nervous breakdown
by jwbot inmy fathers mother, my grammy...had a nervous breakdown recently.. she is a witness, although been inactive.
well aparently, from what my witness mom says, she went to a funeral in a catholic church and the guilt was too much for her.
and also "hanging around your aunt terry" - the disfellowshipped one.. so guys, now disfellowshipped people and catholic churches cause nervous breakdowns.. she couldn't even see that its this unbareable guilt that the publishing company force on the people that caused the nervous breakdown.

What's the most hypocritical thing(s) you've ever seen a JW do?
by Steve Lowry inup high on my list has to be when a jw co-worker named john fitzgerald tore into me one morning (when i was coming in late for work) for grabbing a quick piece of cake from the lunch room.
turns out, someone in this small little office had brought in the remainder of their birthday cake for folks at work to finish up eating.
john was older than i and a ministerial servant (ooh) and felt it his responsibility to keep me on the straight and narrow.

My ex-in-laws (dubs) would have very little to do with my worldy parents, but they were good enough to borrow $5,000 from.
A soon to be elder told myself and another brother where we coud buy fireworks and then ratted us out to the elders when we bought them.

Looking back today, What is your biggest "disappointment" about being a JW?
by run dont walk infor me it has to be my family, there not stupid, i was a little kid (the youngest) during the 1970's, all my brothers and sisters were in their teens/20's, what didn't they see ??
and why don't they see it today ??.

by core inhas anyone considered suing the wt for compensation for loss of earnings?
when i was young we were encouraged instructed to pioneer - sell wts or die (to quote running man) - it was wrong to pursue higher education or a professional career.
many are in a similar position facing old age with dread and have had a life living on far less than if a 'real' job had been taken .

They have a team of free lawyers just waiting to defend their rights. There is very little accountability they have to anyone except themselves. I figure ten years of pioneering--10,000hrs @ $10.00=$100,000 of free labor they got out of me.

I came in to the borg in 1982. I asked about 1975 and was told the society never directly said the world would end in 75, that over zealous witnesses took it the wrong way. Well I wonder where these over zealous witnesses ever came up with that idea? After all your told to gaurd against independant thinking. When I finaly left the borg. I saw what a bunch of two face liars the WTBTS was. Cover your ass at all costs, protect the borg. and who cares about all the other non-dubs in the world, seems to be the real message they preach.

Bethel labs - where the future is being forbidden - today!

so, i told her about bethel labs.
it is a secret laboratory in brooklyn where intricate experiments are painstakingly carried out, day and night.

Jw's----No visible decrease.
by integ inunfortunately i am seeing no visual decrease in the meeting attendance at kingdom halls, assemblies, etc.
i am hearing stories of packed district assemblies, and am seeing bigger attendance at the kingdom hall, not less as i might expect due to all the scandals and exposing of false prophecies etc.
it's very depressing.

A person shoud wait till mid-twenties to be married, but can be baptized at 10.

What Made You Leave The "Truth"? Was It False Prophecy, People, Blood, etc.
by minimus injw's like to believe that people who leave the organization do it for selfish reasons or due to impatience and not "waiting on jehovah".
there's a variety of reasons for persons making the decision and saying, "that's it!
i'm not doing this anymore".

I got tired of putting the WTBTS ahead of life. They demand too much time. Really were is the pleasure of sitting through 5 boring meetings of the same old hash and they use guilt as a motivator. "Can you really tell Jehovah that you had the circumstances to pioneer, but didn"t". Self worth is not built on hours, placements, or bible studies. Two small coins of little value never seem to register with these people.
I gave them 18 years of my life. Not once were these people there for me in my time of need, but thank God my "worldly" family was
